How We Built our Curriculum
Rocket Club Math has meticulously designed a comprehensive curriculum for students from Pre-K through elementary school, grounded in the understanding that early childhood is the Math Identity Window — the critical period when children decide whether they see themselves as “math people.”
Our curriculum aligns with New York State Education Department (NYSED) standards and integrates benchmarks from both private and public schools attended by our members across New York City. More importantly, it is intentionally sequenced to build confidence, competence, and ownership during this formative window, when beliefs about ability are shaped for life.
These objectives were developed in collaboration with licensed teachers and curriculum specialists holding advanced degrees from Columbia, UNC, and Harvard, ensuring that academic rigor and identity development go hand in hand — so children do not just learn math, but begin to see themselves as capable mathematicians.
